What is Capacity?

In short

Capacity is the stated load size of a machine, whether that is a wash drum, a fridge or a freezer.

Capacity is the maximum load a machine is built to handle, and it is the first number to check when you are replacing an appliance. Beko lists a capacity of 8 kg for its freestanding washer, Bosch Hausgeräte lists 10 kg for a front loader in another market, and Bosch lists 8 kg for its own range. ALPICOOL states a different unit, since fridges are measured by volume rather than weight. Trade-off: more capacity suits bigger households but costs more to run and buy.
