What is Device types?
In short
Device types are the categories a brand actually sells, so they show how far a range stretches beyond a single gadget.
Device types are the categories a brand sells within, which tells you whether you can build a whole system from one maker or mix in others. Aqara's catalogue spans hub, sensor and lighting, so one brand can cover lighting, blinds, sensors and heating control. Beasen Smart Window Shades lists a narrower blinds and hub, limited to blinds and a hub. Trade-off: a wider range is convenient, but you pay more attention to a single maker's updates and support.
