Begin with the price on the box
Every purifier comparison starts with two numbers: what the unit costs and what it costs to keep running. Clarifion sells purifiers from $39.97 as a one-off purchase price, and Vornado Air lists from $19.99. Treat those as the starting point for a single unit rather than a monthly fee, and add delivery on top.
Check what the entry price actually covers before you plan a budget. Vornado Air sells purifiers, humidifiers and fans, so its lowest listed price may sit on a fan rather than on a purifier, and Clarifion's catalogue is purifiers only. Daewoo Electricals makes the same point: its listed entry price of £24.99 sits with its coffee machines, not its air purifiers.
Once you have matched the product type, put the figures side by side. Across the air purifier rankings, entry prices run €17.53 to €496.45. That spread is why the cheapest machine on sale is not always the cheapest choice over a few years.
Filter cost is where the yearly total appears
The price on the box is rarely the whole bill, because filters repeat. Clarifion replacement filters add $16.65 to $33.29 a year, and a Vornado Air True HEPA filter adds $39.99 a year. Annual filter spend across the rankings runs €0 to €174.52, so a mid-priced purifier with costly filters can outrun a pricier one with cheap refills.
Do the sum before you commit: entry price, plus annual filter cost, times the years you expect to keep the machine. A purifier that serves one room and runs a few hours a day will tell a very different story from one you leave on overnight, and the difference shows up in the total you care about.
Replacement interval sets how often you shop
Clarifion's filters are replaced every 3 to 6 months, and Vornado Air specifies 12 months between changes. Replacement intervals across the listings run 3 to 120 months.
Short intervals keep filtration fresh but mean more shopping and more reminders to set. Longer intervals are easier to forget, yet you have to remember the unit is still working as intended. Pair the interval with the annual cost, because a cheap filter changed often can cost more over a year than a pricier one changed rarely.
Read the filtration stages, not the marketing words
Filtration types are listed plainly enough to compare. Clarifion's range covers hepa h13, carbon and uv, Vornado Air uses hepa h13, carbon and uv, and Daewoo Electricals uses hepa h13 and carbon.
A HEPA-grade particle stage catches fine dust, carbon takes on smells and gases, UV adds a light-based stage, and an ioniser charges particles so they cling to the filter. More stages usually means more to replace, so weigh the filter cost against the stage list before you decide the extra stage earns its place.
Room size and clean air delivery decide whether it works at all
A purifier is only useful if it can clear your air. Daewoo Electricals lists a clean air delivery rate of 90 cubic metres an hour, and Vornado Air's listed purifier is rated at 265.04. Delivery rates across the ranked air purifiers run 90 to 1,500.
Room coverage narrows the field further. Vornado Air states coverage of 12.54 to 23.97 square metres, and room sizes across the listings run 11 to 418.06. Measure your room, then compare that floor area with the coverage the brand claims. A unit rated for a large open plan space is oversized and wasteful in a bedroom, while a small one will never catch up in a busy living room.
Power draw and noise for rooms you sleep in
Power draw is easy to overlook and shows up on the meter. Vornado Air lists 17 to 59 across its purifiers, and Daewoo Electricals lists 35 to 450 across its appliances. A unit left running overnight at the top of its range costs noticeably more than one at the bottom.
Noise decides whether you keep it switched on. Daewoo Electricals describes its purifier as quiet from 30 decibels and offers several speed settings. A purifier you turn off to get to sleep stops doing its job in exactly the closed room where you would want it working.
Support, warranty and where the brand sits
After-sales support is where a cheap machine can cost you. Clarifion offers email, chat and phone, and Vornado Air offers email, chat and phone, so both give you a help centre alongside email, chat and phone.
Warranty length is the next check. Vornado Air covers its products for 5 years. A long warranty is a fair signal of confidence in the motor and fan, since those are the parts that are awkward to replace and the filters are the parts you can swap yourself.
Where a brand is based tells you what to expect on spares. Vornado Air was founded in 1945 and is headquartered in US. Daewoo Electricals is registered as Eurosonic Group Limited, headquartered in GB and currently selling in GB, so a single market means fewer replacement options if you later move.
Shortlist by which number matters most to you
If your priority is a low entry price and frequent filter changes, start with Clarifion, whose models include the Clarifion Ionizer, the Clarifion DSTx and the Clarifion ODRx Pet Smell Neutralizer. The Clarifion review covers the range in more detail.
If you want stated room coverage, a long warranty and a filter change only every 12 months, Vornado Air fits. Its purifier range is listed as AC350, PCO375DC, PCO575DC in the Vornado Air review.
If you are buying in the UK and want a HEPA-grade and carbon combination at the quiet end, Daewoo Electricals is on the shortlist. To widen the field past these three, the Winix and Coway Canada reviews cover other purifier lines worth weighing against the same price and filter numbers.
