SMEG review

Smeg lists prices from £199.95 in its UK shop, and that entry point covers the range rather than a single bargain model. Compare it with the wider site spread, where the median price sits at €61.38, to see where Smeg lands against your budget.

Cover is 2 years across the range, which is the number to read closely if you are buying something large such as a washing machine or a fridge. One length is listed for the range, so the decision rests on price, size and features rather than on differences in cover.

washing machine, dryer and dishwasher covers the main large appliances for a home, from the fridge and the oven through to the hob, the cooker, the dishwasher and the laundry pair. That breadth is the main reason to consider Smeg rather than a brand that makes one category.

The coffee line is espresso, bean to cup and drip, so a single maker covers espresso, bean to cup, drip and grinder options. That mix suits a household that wants a milk-capable machine and a simple filter option from the same brand, without shopping a specialist coffee maker elsewhere.

A mobile app is offered, and 88.3% of the brands on this site offer an app too, so it is the norm in this group rather than a bonus. If you already run connected kit from another maker, check how the Smeg models you like pair with what you have.

Support runs on help centre, and that is the route listed for customer service. A spare parts shop is also available for the range, so replacement parts can be ordered directly. Plan for parts from the start, since 2 years of cover passes before wear parts become your cost.

The cooking side lists 7.3 litres of capacity and 7 programs, and dishwasher safe parts are marked, so baskets and pans can go straight into a dishwasher. The program count sits below the 9.5 median across the site, so check the presets match the meals you actually cook.

Smeg publishes reference models for the range so you can match a name to a category before buying. Rivals list their own sets, for example GS5231-NF-H-040C weiss, MW 802, EGSP1009-E-030E silber for Exquisit and BW 719 A, BT 84D WWS, B6R 88 SILENCE DE, BKO PBM for Bauknecht, which helps if you are cross-shopping specific machines rather than a full range.

The listed price of £199.95 is in British pounds from the UK shop, so the range is priced for the UK market. The 2 years warranty is quoted on the same UK basis, which is the number to check against a local retailer if you buy outside the UK.
