What is Lidar?
In short
The distance sensing that maps a room, which turns a robot vacuum's path into a planned route rather than a random one.
Lidar is the distance sensing a robot vacuum uses to map a room. It pulses light, measures how long each pulse takes to return, and builds a map from the timing. A mapped machine follows a planned route instead of bumping around, and the map is what allows no-go zones around cables or rugs. AirCraft Home does not state lidar, while AIRROBO, Beko, Bosch and Bosch Hausgeräte each do.
